Welcome to VNT homepage
This homepage is dedicated to Vulcan.NET Training. Application development in Vulcan.NET first and foremost means
migrating your existing Visual Objects applications to the .NET world. The huge majority of Visual Objects apps are
one or the other kind of office management applications. So a high percentage of current Vulcan development, at least with your first step after
migrating your VO app, will be dedicated to extending those VO apps to use new features provided in the .NET Framework Class Library which means heavy useage of
WinForm related features. But you may also want to start developing web applications. Support for this type
of applications was very basic in Visual Objects. You couldn't even think of writing applications for smart devices. The
range of applications you can write in Vulcan.NET is so much wider compared to Visual Objects. So sooner or
later you'll start to investigate in these areas as well.
Your decision to use Vulcan.NET opens the same range of application types as would be available when picking any other .NET
development language like C# or VB.Net, just to mention two of Microsoft's big players in this arena. In addition,
you still have access to features other languages may not support as well as Vulcan.NET because of its Visual Objects
background: DBF support and the macro compiler may be the first coming to mind.
But your first step will always be managing a wider range of features even in the WinForms world. And this means learning new stuff.
I'm sure this is why you're here. Read on, you're very welcome.

Vulcan.Net Training
First and foremost the acronym VNT stands for Vulcan.NET Training. VNT provides a variety of training options, all
of them being centered around a training CD named VNT CD. This CD is a commercial product meeting most of the needs of
a beginner with developing apps in Vulcan.NET and of intermediate Vulcan.NET users. 'Vulcan.NET at Warp Speed' (sometimes nicknamed
the 'Getting Started' booklet) is the official player in this arena. VNT goes a few steps beyond: There's a
training CD which has been developed over more than four years. As a commercial product it will be maintained and
supported.
Another part of VNT is VNT Forum. This is a place where all Vulcan.NET users may exchange their knowledge and educate
themselves. There's also a dedicated area for VNT CD clients where updates to VNT CD and limited support will be provided.
VNT also includes a major training event: VODC, the biggest yearly Vulcan event in Europe. It's a three-days conference fully dedicated to
Vulcan.NET development. See VODC Homepage for more info.
Last but not least the author of VNT CD is available for in-house training and on-project coaching.
If you got the feeling there's still something missing in VNT fields, please contact the author. See Contact page for more details.
